Informed by research into the language of online conspiracy theory communities, Threat Level Orange explores its subject with empathy and understanding. This work exposes the viewer to an overwhelming array of confusing and paranoid information, placing them inside the mind of the contemporary conspiracist. The use of Chinese and Japanese text references the appropriation of East Asian culture in the dystopian speculative futures of cyberpunk, and the ability of conspiracy beliefs to cross cultural and linguistic barriers thanks to the internet.
